Le jour du depart est arrive. Il va falloir que je quitte Hong Kong, que je laisse ce paradis ou j'ai ete si heureux.

Il n'existe pas d'autres endroits au monde comme Hong Kong. Que j'ai aime travailler dans ce pays, me promener sur ses montagnes, marcher dans ses rues remplies de chinois.

Journal de voyage - Retour a Hong-Kong , novembre 1998
Vendredi 13 novembre.
Tiens c'est un vendredi 13 !
Je suis dans un fauteuil d'un 747 qui vole vers Hong Kong. C'est un avion de la KLM ; j'ai choisi cette compagnie car le billet aller-retour ne coûte même pas 4000 francs, au depart de Toulouse.
Il est 8h19, heure de Hong-Kong. Hier, ou plutot ce matin j'ai quitte Toulouse. Il y faisait froid, les rues etaient mouillees par une pluie nocturne. Je m'attends a retrouver a Hong Kong une douce chaleur humide. Je connais deja cette ville, et c'est pour moi le paradis. Je ne parle parle pas de Tsim Sha Tsui ou de Central qui sont les lieux typiquement touristiques, mais des iles, Lantau, Lamma, Cheung Chau, des sentiers de randonnee, des quartiers de Mongkok et de Sham Shui Po que j'ai tant aimes, ou je suis si bien, ou je suis heureux.
Je ne sais pas si j'ai raison ou tort de revenir verifier si mes souvenirs ne sont pas idealises. J'ai peur d'etre decu. Je suis parti sans reserver de chambre d'hotel a l'avance. Je vais arriver vers 9h30 et j'espere trouver un lit dans Chunking Mansions pour 130 HK$. Je vais rester a Hong Kong 2 semaines. Au programme, les sentiers de randonnee le jour, et la nuit les lieux technologiques ; j'adore ces magasins remplis de materiels informatiques ou electroniques. J'aime aussi Les petites boutiques remplies de CD pirates. 
J'espere retrouver les Macdonalds avec leur prix tres bas, 14 francs pour tous les menus. Il me faut aussi du beau temps, les cartes de randonnee, les horaires des ferries. Mais ce qui m'inquiete pour le moment c'est une chambre pas chere.

Le vol s'est bien passe. Le premier avion Toulouse-Amsterdam etait presque vide. Le second, vers Hong Kong est juste rempli au tiers. J'ai vole tous les couverts, j'aime la forme, le design des cuilleres des compagnies aeriennes. De plus, lire sur le manche des cuilleres le nom grave des compagnies aeriennes me fera rever a chaque petit-dejeuner.
L'avion atterit pile a l'heure dans un ciel clair sans nuage ni brume, ce qui me semble inespere. Je rentre dans l'aeroport tout neuf. Je m'arrete de suite face a une baie vitree pour regarder le Lantau peak. Le passage de la douane se fait sans probleme. Il y a beaucoup de monde qui attend devant les comptoirs de l'immigration ; fidele a mon principe de repartition de la foule selon une distribution gaussienne, je prends la file extreme et une fois de plus, je passe assez rapidement.
Je change un cheque de voyage de 1000$ et j'obtiens plus de 7000 HK$. J'achete un ticket aller-retour par la nouvelle rame du MTR, l'airport express pour seulement 120 HK$. Et je m'offre aussi une carte Octopus chargee avec 150 HK$ qui va me permettre tout plein de trajets en MTR et ferries.
Apres une demi-heure de trajet, je debarque en plein milieu de Tsim Sha Tsui. J'ai mon gros sac a dos, je traverse la rue vers les Chunking Mansions et a peine rendu de l'autre cote, je suis accoste par une chinoise qui me fait monter au 14eme etage, puis redescendre au 13 par l'escalier vers le Rhine Guest House. On me montre une premiere chambre qui ne me plait pas, puis on m'en montre une autre au fond d'un couloir. Je ne m'y attendais pas, il y a une fenetre. Il y a un gros ventilateur au plafond, la clim, une salle de bain, la tele, tout ca pour 140 HK$.
